about

Released on CD by Glacial Movements (glacialmovements.bandcamp.com/album/observer-effect).

'Observer Effect would have made a fitting soundtrack for Ridley Scott TV series The Terror. Venture here if you dare.' — DJ Mag

'Deep listening at its finest.' — Electronic Sound Magazine

'This swirling, scorched sequence of ambient sonics is bombastic and terrifying. Calming too. Like standing up in the face of a natural disaster and looking in wonder.' — Bandcloud

'Observer Effect is unnerving yet warmly emotional (...)' — Magazine Sixty

'Shelter starts all comforting and warm but soon the darkness creeps in, and Optical Haze, Pt.1 is arguably the oscillating, tremulous highlight, although this is an album that benefits from being consumed whole. Cold as ice – and twice as nice.' — Juno Daily

'The sounds move around you and through you; and by the time the album comes to an end and silence reigns again, you start to notice sounds differently. (...) It is odd, but after forty-five minutes your ears have been rebooted somehow.' — Freq

'"Ambient" music, yes, but also music to set the pulse beating faster — a far cry from the purely peaceful variations so often served under the genre (...)' — Inverted Audio

'Sellekaers’s music is unusual, for it manages to imply melodies while using very few notes, and emotions are portrayed through texture just as much as harmony. (...) Fans of the label need not hesitate.' — Arcana

‘(…) A great production inviting the listener to dream away.’ — Side-Line Reviews

A journey in the unknown is a deeply transforming experience. How are we affected by the world around us and how do we alter it just by being there, by existing in this particular place, at this very moment? By observing it?

Frozen textures, faint melodies from the polar nights... The excitement, fascination and primal fear felt by the pioneers, explorers, men and women, travelling to extreme, uninhabited regions. Mysteries are uncovered, or left alone. A solitary voyage in seemingly endless territories.

Observer Effect is an album fed by history, countless stories and books. And by the pleasure of building a sonic scenery, a suspended state, imagining icy landscapes in the lightest night...
